About

A glimpse into my life

Maša was born and raised in Slovenia, a small country in Central Europe with rich culture, heritage and tradition. She started developing her artistic abilities from early childhood, taking classes in painting, dancing and music. Her love for all forms of art skills drew her to pursue and graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in September 2016. Subsequently, her career path took her in many different directions to diverse destinations, including working as freelance videographer, photographer, graphic designer, music educator, as well as sculptor and illustrator in Slovenia, Spain, India and China. She is also active in the local theatre and music industry in Slovenia.

She has worked with a wide breadth of organisations and individuals, including the British Embassy of Ljubljana, fiddle-player extraordinaire Casey Driessen, the Janez Levec Center - a school for children with special needs and Zavod MEPI, Slovenia. Maša is a multi-faceted artist with a lot of love, passion and commitment towards her work.

Latest Works

Music

Maša first music lesson was at the tender age of nine, when she fell in love with wind instruments. She has been playing flute and alto saxophone ever since and has studied music theory formally as well. Over the years, she has been a part of different music ensembles, playing in a plethora of band formats and music styles, including wind orchestras and jazz bands.

She has also been an avid singer and has honed her singer-songwriter skills, accompanying herself with the tenor ukulele or the guitar. She has written several tunes in Slovene and English.

Theatre

Maša's passion for the stage comes from her father, a Geographer by profession, who is also an accomplished actor-director in the local theatre community. She was therefore initiated into the scene from a young age and has acted, directed and written several plays in different genres, including musicals and dramas, which have even been translated into different languages. Aside from acting and directing, is also very well-versed with stage props, make-up and costume design.

Videography & Photography

Maša’s endeavours into photography and videography were initiated through a video installation project in University. She has embraced the medium of communication since, and currently explores storytelling through moving images. Many examples of her varied styles of work can be found on her YouTube channel. Apart from using photos and videos as a means to personal expression, she often works with different people and organisations to document festivals, concerts, conferences, workshops, tutorials and even parties.

Fine Arts

Maša's love for Fine Arts comes from her grandfather, who was a painter and educator. Apart from her graduation from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, she also studied Fine Arts at TAMK - Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Her focus is in sculpting, along with advanced skillsets in drawing, painting and illustration. Her principal work materials are natural products such as clay, plaster, wood, paper, watercolours, etc. Her latest work '7000 masks' speaks of her love for miniature art and sculpture replication of objects.
